Re: NFL 2005 Draft Picks

According to my calculations based on Combine results posted on the website I provided (missing numbers for some players I can get elsewhere) and the table provided above, I have determined ballpark figures for the following players in these areas:

#12 Aaron Rodgers, QB (GB)
Speed 63; Jumping 78; Agility 65

#11 Alex Smith, QB (SF)
Speed 62; Jumping 69; Acceleration 82; Agility 90

#17 Jason Campbell, QB (WAS)
(Will post when I get more information not provided on that site)

Charlie Frye, QB (CLE)
Speed 54; Jumping 70; Accel 89; Agility 82

#23 Ronnie Brown, HB (MIA)
Speed 88; Jumping 75; Accel 77; Agility 73

#28 J.J. Arrington, HB (ARI)
Speed 84; Jumping 79; Accel 79; Agility 91

Courtney Roby, WR (TEN)
Speed 89; Jumping 83; Accel 87; Agility 98

#11 Mike Williams, WR (DET)
Speed 70; Jumping 83 (website: 4.67 40; 36.5" vertical)
Speed 72; Jumping 85 (NFL.com: 4.57 40; 37" vertical)

#32 Carlos Rogers, CB (WAS)
Speed 88; Jumping 93; Accel 95; Agility 99; Strength 57

Fabian Washington, CB (OAK)
Speed 92; Jumping 98; Accel 89; Strength 60

Derrick Johnson, OLB (KC)
Speed 73; Jumping 88; Accel 93; Agility 74

Demarcus Ware, OLB/DE (DAL)
Speed 73; Jumping 89; Accel 81; Agility 88; Strength 77

I would love to do more and to edit these into my CAPs but I have work in less than 6 hours (because I am sure I did not come close in a few areas. I may have to make some changes because I think Smith and Rodgers' speeds are a little low. They are scrambling QBs and a low-60s rating will not do).

There appears to be some inconsistencies between NFL.com's prospect profiles and the "official" combine results posted on the website.

Alex Smith
4.7 40, 31" vertical (NFL.com); 4.79 40, 32" vertical (website)

Aaron Rodgers
4.74 40, 32 5/8" vertical (NFL.com); 4.78 40, 34 1/2" vertical (website)

I only have the time to double check those but that's the kind of differences I get between the two sources. Which should I trust more?

Re: NFL 2005 Draft Picks

I may be slightly confused but didn't Fabian Washington run a sub 4.3 40 at the combine? This seems to make his speed of 92 a bit low. I don't know how many guys in the NFL were given above a 92 speed on the madden rosters but that sure makes a lot of really really fast guys. I would assume that Fabian Washington would be in the 97-99 range for speed without a doubt.

I would use the official nfl page over anything else.

Re: NFL 2005 Draft Picks

I had a feeling the speed was low for a lot of players and I was thinking about this on my way home from work. Definitely a bit low - Rodgers and Smith are both scrambling quarterbacks and deserve higher than low to mid-60s. I will see what else I can find. Definitely using NFL.com for the 40-yard dash numbers. However, for the other ratings, I have to use that site when they are not giving on NFL.com

Re: NFL 2005 Draft Picks

I have determined that this table is a bit off as it gives anybody with a 4.5 40 marginal speed (in the 70s) for guys like Cedric Benson and Mike Williams (not the fastest players but definitely warrant more than low-to-mid-70s.

Re: NFL 2005 Draft Picks

Do football players actually show their 40 speed in a game? with pads and having to cut and see the feeling and everything.
