just put them on the depth chart and they will play in play now but not in a franchise game

If you go to franchise options and turn pre-existing injuries off, I think it will work. Just do it at the beginning of your franchise and then change your depth charts.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you guys, I don't come here that often.

Yeah, the other posters are correct. You turn off Pre-existing injuries in the settings (before starting franchise mode) to be able to play with them in your first season. From main screen go to My Madden > Gameplay Settings > Game > Pre-Existing Injuries (turn off).

Also, you can play with IR players in exhibition games by putting them in the depth chart. The player rating will show a really low rating, but once you start the game they will have their normal rating (i.e. McNabb will be a 97).
