You can't manually as far as I know on PS2 and have to wait for EA's next release for updated IR guys.

Press A on the player in the injury report for this option...allthough it does NOT free up a spot on the roster...pure stupidity and yet another glitch.

you cannot trade or release an injured player in the regular rosters...the more i mess around with this game the more i hate it. anxiously awaiting puja's rosters for the nfl 2k5 update - my madden days are just about over.
