This is the final Roster update released. MadBacker didn't have a chance to put in the comments, but was kind enough to send the comments to me so I can share them with you. Here are the comments for the NG List: Weapons CB Dre’ Bly – Broncos – Loses Shutdown Corner – Gambled too much this season and paid for it by opposing offenses on a disappointing defense. DE Justin Tuck – Giants – Gains Power Move – Already had the Finesse Move. This guy is a force up front for the Giants. DE Osi Umenyiora – Giants – Gains Power Move – Already had the Finesse Move. He used power to dominate one of the best left tackles in football. DE Michael Strahan – Giants – Gains Finesse Move – Already had the Power Move. Showed he still has speed around the corner. HB Justin Fargas – Raiders – Becomes Power Back – His first year as a starter was a successful one with a 1,000 yards and a contract extension. Gets to the second level in a hurry. HB Steven Jackson – Rams – Becomes Elusive Back – A Power Back already. Don’t let his size fool you, he is very light on his feet making the first guy miss. DE Mario Williams – Texans – Gains Power Move – Already had the Finesse Move. Whether around the edge or straight at you, this guy is a handful. HB LenDale White – Titans – Becomes Power Back – A known frequenter of the local Steak and Shake. He rumbled for over 1,100 yards. Ratings ( + ) SS Bob Sanders – Colts - 98 to 99 – A change in position from FS to SS made his OVR go through the roof. There isn’t a player more important to his team’s success on defense. TE Jason Witten – Cowboys - 95 to 96 – Now an elite TE in the NFL. Super athletic and a good blocker should only see continued success in the Cowboys’ offense. RG Leonard Davis – Cowboys – 92 to 95 – Forced to play LT in Arizona despite his massive size and he struggled. Has flourished back at RG for the Cowboys. QB Eli Manning – Giants – 87 to 92 – Who knows if it carries over into next season but his decision making in the playoffs was second to none outshining several Hall of Fame QB’s. DE Osi Umenyiora – Giants – 94 to 97 – He ran around and through All Pro LT Matt Light. Despite shutting down Merriman and James Harrison earlier, Osi dominated Light. WR Wes Welker – Patriots – 91 to 93 – Very few in the league are quicker and even fewer are better route runners. FS Sean Taylor – Redskins – 93 to 96 – Not a tribute to a fallen player. Would have been over 10 INT’s and was an elite FS in his final season. DT Pat Williams – Vikings – 97 to 98 – The best defensive lineman in the NFL this season. Was the leading force on the best rush defense in the NFL. Ratings ( - ) DT Tommie Harris – Bears – 98 to 96 – A ferocious pass rusher from the DT position but was not in the class of Pat Williams and Albert Haynesworth this season. LB Jonathan Vilma – Jets – 95 to 93 – Anyone who thinks he will be the same after a devastating knee injury is kidding themselves. Subject of trade rumors. LT Matt Light – Patriots – 97 to 96 – Looked over matched in the Super Bowl. NG and CG are both on schedule to be available for download tomorrow morning, (Feb. 16,2008). This is the final update of the season and has all the players healthy and removed from Injured Reserve. This update saw the Giants and Eli Manning get some respect with more Weapons and a fierce pass rush. Special thanks to a community guy for helping MadBacker get close to 100% accuracy on players ages, heights, weights, and jersey numbers. MadBacker went through each team and these should be as close as they can get to end of season rosters and an updated free agent pool. Now, PC Final Roster Update will soon follow. Not really.

History has shown that the ratings are broken in Madden. The only rating that ever really seems to matter in this franchise is the speed rating.
