How do you download the online roster updates?

I'm new to madden so i need help. How do you download the online roster updates? I bought the game used for PS3 from gamestop. Do i need the online pass that was on the back of the manual? I tried to enter ithe code but i guess its already been used. If someone knows how to download the roster updates please help me out and if you have a unused online code please PM me too. Thanks

You need the code, pay for it online and your done. No other options.

Nope. New this year. Any online access you need the code, EA does this so that they can move new copies off the shelf, and deter users from buying used. You can purchase the access pass from gamestop I believe, for 10 dollars.
