What's a patch? I usually do the roster updates but don't know what the patches are or how to get them.

A PATCH IS WHAT THEY USE TO FIX ISSUES THAT THEY DIDNT GET TO BEFORE THE RELEASE OF THE GAME- USUALLY FIXES BUGS,FREEZES ETC. THE 1ST PATCH IS SCHEDULED FOR SEPT 11TH WITH ZERO INFO YET WHAT WILL BE ON IT AND ROSTER UPDATE IS SAT BUT WILL ONLY BE GOOD FOR PLAY NOW MODE- 1ST OFFICIAL ROSTER DOWNLOAD FOR OFFLINE USERS IS ALSO SEPT 11TH!

What exactly is the point of updating the rosters if you can only use it in play now? This just seems like busy work by EA to make it seem like they are hard at work.

I would guess that they make the updated roster file and then create a new CC roster from that. It really is pointless to have a roster file at all now since the roster file itself can not be used for CC.
