Why do my custom rosters ratings decrease when I start a new Franchise?

I made the 86 Browns and Kevin Mack dropped from a 97 to 87 in my franchise. Not to mention everyone else?? Confused.

Ratings are based on your style of play.. You have to look at the type of player you have, then match that style of play in your team strategy

Interesting. Would that explain why every time I import a custom roster to start a Franchise, the numbers look different than when I check the roster in the Customize/Roster menus?

Is there any way I can import a roster for franchise where Dustin Keller (and Dennis Pitta, et. al.) are properly on IR? This is driving me nuts!

Its every single player? All of my players dropped in their ratings? Did it have to do with me choosing a legend to control?

The player ratings drop because ccm goes by scheme's so u have to get players that fit it best.... still don't get why they drop if u don't change your scheme. I just think its ea's way to use the xp system instead of raising them like in previous maddens.
