No reason why you can't start a franchise with the updated patch while the second patch is in development.

Once the second patch is dropped, erase the franchise and settle in for next franchise.

lol...i have waited long enough.... i m going to start one soon, then when the next patch comes out i will just start over!

You probably already know this, but you dont have to restart your franchise for the new patch to take effect. You would just need to re-tweak your sliders and get back to business.
