Any way to make the CPU offense call smarter plays?

Anything longer than 12 yards and they throw the Hail Mary. If they're down by two, regardless of what quarter or how much time is left in the game, they go for two.:brick wall

Any sliders that stop this? Both things are a deal-breaker for me.

You could invest some time and make custom game plans for the CPU teams. This way you can filter out the "stupid plays". Take a look at this thread, as some of this work has already been done in an ongoing effort to make the the Gameflow feauture work better through smarter and more appropriate play calling:

Re: Any way to make the CPU offense call smarter plays?

This is from a post I made earlier:

*EDIT* I left the test part out! Doh!

CPU Gameplan with 1 run play 5 Stars and Pass play at half Star for all situations. Then set Coach slider to 100% Pass. But the CPU Ran 48/50 attempts.

I posted this a few days ago. From what I saw in my test above, the star rating of the play is the defining factor if it's used, rather than the coach scheme.

All the gameplans have too many hailmary plays. Most have at least 3 in the 2 min set up! I just got rid of all of them and replaced them with better plays. Normally if you streak a reciever you use you other wides to move the safeties away. If every one runs up field you end up with 8 guys going for the ball. Whereas Mike suggests Removing them I replace them with another pass to keep the variety in there.

A better explination for what I do on def.
4/3
If a play has 4 Def linemen with red arrows 4*
Now for every other red arrow (denoting blitz) I knock a star off. So a 4/3 FS safety blitz gets 3 stars. A 4/3 OLB Blitz will get 2 Stars.
Corner blitz I have left in but with just a half star so they are run very little.

For 3/4 I take 3 DLinemen and 1LB as a 4* and then apply the same rules as 4/3.

Takes about ten mins per team to set up. I do the team i'm about to play in franchise just before I start the game. (Counts as scouting too)

I haven't touched any coach sliders in my current franchise. i am the only user team.

I don't use gameflow as I found it rather redundant and repetitive, I don't feel like adjusting it all for hours at a time for every team. I use conventional play calling and I've never had any cpu play calling problems (even when I was using gameflow) I've never even had a team go for two on me(at all) or run a hail mary when 12 or more yards from the first.

There are only one HUGE issue with cpu play calling that I've seen, the cpu QB's make the worst decisions when passing the ball. If no one's open where they want them to be open at are not open in a couple of seconds they will throw into double even triple coverage, even when there is another receiver that will have a much better opportunity to make the grab.
