Coach's Fox NFL Sunday Slider Set

Introduction
Hello everyone. I would first like to point out that these sliders are based on (tmack85ive) set. I would first like to applaud his efforts in doing all the dirty work creating these sliders. I am going to refine these sliders from game to game to create an NFL atmosphere where winning on the road is tough and it is a story of defenses.

My Experience
I have been playing madden ever since Madden 64 on the Nintendo 64. Throughout the years I have always loved the Madden series. However the past few years I have decided to go with the NCAA series because of the weak improvements that Madden has made. However with every new year comes a new story. I love this game and it has been because of you. The people who are willing to put there time in to make this game "playable". I consider myself a All-madden player. I know football inside and out. The one thing that has disappointed me is the lack of losses I have been getting. No NFL team is going to consistently go undefeated or lose 1-2 games a year. It just does not happen. So this is why this thread it made. To create the tough grinding NFL experience of winning games based on strategy.

Post-game Thoughts:
This game played really well for the first time. The first quarter was pure defense as neither team was able to do anything either on the ground or air. Detroit tried to sustain a drive down at my 32 yard line but was plagued with a false start penalty that pushed them to punt the ball. I get the ball back but once again is shut down at the end of the quarter. 1st quarter results (total yards): DET: 43 CHI:32. After sputtering on offense again I am forced to punt the ball. Defense is still the theme as the Lions go 3 and out with N.Burleson carted off with a herniated disk which will require 5 weeks of rehab. They punt the ball to me and Hester is able to get me good field position, starting at midfield. Forte shows life as a hole opens up for the first time on a 22 yd scamper which sets me up for a FG. Detroit gets the ball and again is suffocated by the Bears defense. They punt the ball back and Hester fumbles it right back to the Lions. This is surprisingly the only turnover of the game. On the pursuing drive my SS blows his coverage and M.Stafford is able to find D.Williams for a 37 Yd TD pass. Hester redeems himself with a 93 yard kickoff return. Bears ride the momentum into halftime as they are able to close out the Lions and tack on a FG just before half. Opening 2nd half I catch the Lions in a blitz and Hester receives a screen pass and goes for the touch. Failed 2pt conversion. Then all of a sudden M.Stafford gets a hot hand as he leads the Lions on a 7 minute TD drive capped off with a pass to C.Johnson Jr. This makes is a 19-14 lead for the Bears. But no worries as Hester takes another one to the house! I then get the two-point conversion off a sweep in the wildcat formation. The Bears defense rebounds as they are able to hold the Lions down for the rest of the game as they also tack on a couple FGs and a 44 yd burst from Forte.

Concerns:
I immediately look at the two returned kickoffs and wonder how this was so easy with 100 threshold. Overall, it was tough to run the ball at the beginning. Less than 50 yards rushing in the first half for either team. But it came on late when it had to. CPU completion percentage, I will keep an eye on and may increase if next game is not above 50%. For now, I will not change anything. Take away the two kickoff returns and you have a very hard fought defensive game of football.

Post-game Thoughts:
In every football game there are ultimately 3-5 plays that decide the outcome of the game. This game was decided by the big play. Game started out just like the Lions game. Hard nose defense forced both teams to punt on their first possession. Bears defense rises again on the second drive and force the Cowboys to punt. Cowboys pin me deep and on a gutsy call I went for it on 4th and inches at my own 30 Yd line. Bad choice. Forte gets stuffed a yard behind the line of scrimmage. Cowboys take advantage and T.Romo throws a jump ball to R.Williams as he out jumps C.Tillman to score 6. So Cowboys cash in early and take a 7-0 lead. However pursuing kick-off they kick away from Hester and Knox returns it 91 yards to the house. Tied it up 7-7. Dallas answers back with a 80 yard run and catch. However with the help of a false start and a big sack by L.Briggs, Cowboys are forced to kick a 55 Yd FG and miss. Momentum swings back to CHI however offense sputters at midfield with a couple of penalties. Dallas next possession, crucial turnover by T.Romo after big yards on a QB scramble he coughs it up. M.Forte/M.Lawrence find the running game and set up a FG. Riding a 10-7 lead, the Bears again are able to shut down the cowboys offense. We get it back and good running by M.Lawrence puts me in the redzone, However bad pass by me causes a INT in the endzone. (1st INT of the year). So the Cowboys get a boost from F.Jones who scampers 78Yds just before half to lead 14-10. After a series of tough D after halftime Urlacher intercepts T.Romo on a WR screen pass. This sets up good field position for the Bears and ends with a J.Cutler Td scramble for 12 Yds. Bears now up 17-14. After another series of tough defense for both teams, the bears get the ball back but Cutler throws his 2nd Int of the day. (Cowboys secondary much better than Lions from Wk 1, and I could tell the difference). Cowboys get good field position but unable to cash in with a 51 Yd FG attempt. Bears although forced to punt it back. Romo gets careless next possession and throws a deep to J.Leonard. Tough run defense gives me a 4th and inches from my own 37. Learning from what happen earlier I punt the ball in hopes to holding them. How wrong could I be, on 3rd down F.Jones goes untouched up the gut for a DAL Td. That puts Dallas up 21-17 with 1:16 left in the game. After a deep post I get myself within the 30 yard line when all of a sudden I catch Dallas in a Blitz and hit Forte for the game winning Screen pass to win 24-21.

Concerns:
Another kick return really makes me wonder what stat could be changed to decrease this although as we seen last night on MNF with the Patriots, anything can happen. The once change I am making is CPU computer accuracy. T.Romo was 14/32. I am going to increase this from 79 to 84 to get the accuracy up a tad. However everything else is looking GREAT and can't wait to renew the rivalry against the (2-0) Packers!

Post-game Thoughts:
Special team play really important in win this week. Things started out unusual compared to the last two weeks. GB started their drive and on 3rd down threw a deep bomb to J.Jones who beat my LB however my LB was able to recover and jar it from the WR. Then Forte hits the ground running (first time this year). Had 50+ yards in the first quarter alone. Gets the Bears to the redzone and Cutler rushing TD is called back due to holding so on 3rd and 18 J.Cutler needles the ball in between two defenders to hit J.Knox on a post route to score 6. Bears lead 7-0. The first quarter ends with both teams struggling to find ground. This theme continues for each teams 1st drive in the 2nd quarter. However GB's 2nd possession of 2nd quarter, R.Grant finds a big hole for 49 yards that sets up M.Crosby for a 49 Yd FG. Bears 7 GB 3. After the GB defense shuts me down again, I punt the ball and the returner fumbles it and it turns out to be CHI ball on the GB 21 Yd Line. In 2 plays M.Lawrence scores Td putting bears up 14-3. Kicking it off, the Packers again fumble, this time costly. T.Jennings picks it up for 6 adding on to the bears lead now 21-3. I'm thinking blow out, but Gb respond with a TD screen pass to B.Jackson before half to make the score 21-10 Bears. 3rd quarter was all defense. Each team going 3 and out on 3 drives. However big story here, Ryan Grant out for season with torn pectoral muscle. He was averaging 7.1 yards/carry and was a reason why they couldn't seem to run after that. G.Jennings is also knocked out of the game with a strained bicep. 24-10 Bears lead heading into the 4th. Then the comeback is on. GB gets a nice TD pass to J.Finley and adds a 2pt conversion to make it 21-18 Bears. Bears stay strong however as Cutler makes a clutch throw on 3rd down and finishes the drive with a 1 Yd Td run by M.Forte. Bears now up 28-18. GB adds another score as the march down the field and end with TD pass to D.Lee to make the final score 28-25 Bears.

Concerns:
Kickoff returns was well played by the CPU, never got close to returning one this game. My increase in pass accuracy for the QB did well, M.Bulger (picked up due to A.Rodgers injury) went 16/29 (55%). I will keep my eyes on this as I progress. Overall best game yet as far as stats and realism. Couple big special teams plays was the difference, otherwise I may have lost this one. On a side note I am boosting kickoff power from 27 to 38 because through 3 weeks, no kicker has yet had a touchback. Longest field goal is 55 so far, thats good. BTW: I am updating the attributes on the 1st main post as I go. I believe I am really close to what we all want. Real stats and real great games. Next up: those pesky 3-0 Giants!

Hey bro I'll keep checking the thread. Sounds lik you are having some really good games, but imo too many of your games are 20+ points and above. I personally like to see more teen's scores, MAYBE even single digits. Anyway we can get this? 13-6, etc are perfect games to me.

Btw: The CPU will most time have more plays than you with no runoff (unless your defense is great) bc they snap the ball earlier than a user would. You may want to try and raising your user QB accuracy a little. Like i said slider sets are not meant for everyone because many of us are of different skills levels or expect certain things from a game. Your rushing statistics are sounding great and realistic. T.Romo stats are also right on. Not sure if brett just had an off day or what but I find myself sometimes throwing crappy balls, which is why I gameplan on running the ball 30-40 times a game and throw short quick passes (screens, delay routes, etc). I like your results though. Let me know more information if you decide to continue with the set.
