Ello,
I've not played Madden for around 5 or 6 years due to the game being a perennial disappointment and certain broken aspects of the game never being fixed. However, I had heard that Madden 25 was a bit better - the CPU will actually run the ball and not cheat so much etc. So I recently decided to try it out and this has led me once again to the forlorn practice of creating realistic sliders (and at least the sliders are far more comprehensive these days).
I've been playing Charter04s sliders for a while but there were a few things I didn't like, the main issue being that due to the slow speed of the players (or less differential between them), runs to the outside, end-arounds, QB scrambles, screens, kick returns, etc were just not factors/realistic and QBs can't go deep due to their low accuracy (in my experience).
So today I developed a slider set predicated on the theme of making individual players play according to their talent and opening up every aspect of the game. Now, this is a work in progress and, although they probably need much tweaking, I think I'm on to something here.
The concept is based on making fast players really fast and making defences react far slower. Conversely, as you will, see pass coverage and tackling are extremely high.
The result is that RBs can go inside or out and gaps will open up for them, they can also break long runs without being chased down by slower players (as they can in real life). It depends on the talent of the back and Oline. I've had Lynch run for over 170 yards on me whereas other backs have struggled to make 3 yards per carry.
However, lineman and linebackers will shed their blocks far more effectively due to the high tackling slider and low blocking slider. The D Line will get a lot of pressure on the QB and holes in the line of scrimmage will shut as soon as the running back enters them. In addition, due to the high pass coverage, you should see a lot more pressure sacks.
Whereas receivers will be able to get space via the initial slower reaction of the D, they will then be stuck to like glue. Essentially, the better a player's attributes are, the better he will play. A good and fast receiver will find more space against a less talented CB but a highly rated CB really will be shut-down now. I've played games today against both the Buccs and Seahawks and Revis and Sherman made passing to the WRs they were marking an extremely dangerous proposition.
Please note: you will see penalties, injuries and fumbles (as you would in the NFL of course).
If anyone would test the sliders I've posted below then I'd be most grateful. Let me know how they feel to you. I'm not a great Madden player and much tweaking will no doubt be necessary but if the general feel is there then I'll have something to work with and improve upon. Thanks for looking
