Will EA purchasing the ESPN license be the nail in Madden's coffin ?

Well it looks like we'll have one more year of what we all know as "madden". But for the xbox2 and ps3 it really looks like it will be a complete overahaul in the presentation, the graphics, and hopefully the gameplay. I have to believe they will make strides in the gameplay for the next gen consoles and couple that with the presentation and the already stellar franchise mode I do think madden will be a pretty good for the next gen consoles. They will keep inovating because they always have look at NCAA football they didn't have any compeition this year but still tried to make the game better ( the emphasis is on tried but they did screw that up pretty well). Also with NCAA football last year put out what some call the best football game of all time with just one game to compete with and that was Gamebreaker and they could have easily not done anything and it still would have sold. They will make the game better and will continue to innovate that is what the consumer wants and if they don't they'll hear about it.

Since I already assumed it was the NCAA Football series from the start (though March Madness fits in there fine as well), the second post received the same response as the first.

Homefield advantage was their headliner feature last year... and it was implemented in poor fashion. Yeah, that sounds pretty lazy to me. How about fixing the nonexistent CPU running game or the "Mario jumps" by defensive backs? Maybe the poor blocking? Gameplay wise, NCAA 2005 did pretty much nothing to improve over 2004.

Well, I guess I did have something better to post. How about that?

The market price for most games is $50, so no gaming company must care about the fans eh? I saw the other complain that this is about destroying the competition more...What competition they don't even need to make this deal they are the competition. They are the only game in town for most people because of the NFL license they don't need to even do this but they did that shows me they are trying. Some of you people need to get off the backs of EA every year it's something new to complain about. They could make a flawless game and somebody will still find something to whine about. If you don't like what they are doing don't buy the game, boycott them.

In a poor fashion? B/c many claim their receivers can't catch a ball? Mind you these are all Xbox owners, and PS2 NCAA owners don't have the same complaints?

CPU Run game? A complaint that can be had for EVERY football title released this year, EVEN ESPN?

Mario Jumps? Are you having trouble with the deep ball? Never seen this complained about with NCAA, maybe Madden, but not NCAA.

Poor blocking? Got me there... I've been frustrated by this by every sports title, including ESPN. Sega's title does have better open field blocking, as CPU players do tend to pick up the unblocked man a bit better.

With the improved recruitment, better dynasty discipline situations, better running, better DB AI, more plays, better detail, online play, HFA, and updated rosters, if you didn't feel it was an improvement, why did you buy the title?

You are COMPLETELY missing the point. The point is that if Sega focuses on trying to make a great game, instead of looking over its shoulder at EA, then great things will happen. Do you work on Wall Street, by chance? In politics, the 'BS' (since you are familiar with that term) is that they all do the talking, but are so busy putting up smoke screens and participating in pissing wars that none of them ever really accomplish anything of great value. How many of them have truely stood by what they promised on their platform? NONE. Again, start focusing on innovation and less on competition.
