I'm not sure if this is true, but I've always thought that blitzes supposed to be used for stopping the pass, and not used for stopping the run. So if I expect a run, I just call a cover 2 man play, but I have problems because I control the linebackers, but when the ball is snapped, one of the guys on their offensive line will block the LB that I'm controlling which causes me unable to get to the running back in time.

no... zone are for passes...same as blitz...

man to man with 9 stack on the box are for runs... at least IRL.

on madden, u can stop the run even with 3-4 4 quarters deep :P

all i do is blitz and i can stop the run but it backfires when you play someone good because if they get by my blitzes it usely signify a long run

Are there any plays in the 4-3 formation that have the 2 safeties in the box like you said? Because I can't find any.

press Y(triangle I guess on PS2) then to either the right or the left... one or the other, I forget... and it brings both safeties up. But then you'll have to find a way to get some outside contain because the outsides open way up no matter how fast your Defense is.
