Madden Cheese???

I am a ESPN Fanboy trying to get up to speed in Madden. Although I am still going to play ESPN 2K5 until the wheels fall off, I want to become competitive in Madden since they will have the be the only game with NFL Licenses next year. I am currently playing on XBOX Live in the Madden lobbies (east) and getting my *** handed to me. I know I'm not good, and I have to stop looking at it like ESPN, but sometimes some things just ain't right. Therefore, I have a question. Can you guys name me the CHEESE to look out for? I was playing today and got sacked at least 10 times and got my punt blocked every punt! Help! Name the Cheeses please so I can know who not to play, etc!

I don't play Madden a whole lot, but if your opponent plays the vast majority of his defense and getting most of his sacks using the Quarter formation (7 DBs), then something is up. Blitzing from the Quarter package in Madden 2005 can be ridiculously effective.

My advice is to try to play with either people you know personally that you know will not pull a fast one on you.

Good luck. In Madden, knowledge of it's gameplay quirks is power; don't think logically. Just about everyone plays BnR every play simply because you can, for example. Madden Cheese is all in the eye of the beholder. If you're serious about becoming more knowledgeable about it's quirks/glitches, probably the quickest way is to join one of those Madden sites that give out gameplay tips or help you tailor your play to beating people.

There's also www.maddentips.com and www.maddenauthority.com - I know maddentips is a pay-for-info site; think you can get some info from maddenauthority just by visiting the forums but they have a subscription service also. Again, only suggesting it if you're serious about trying to get good in a short period of time. Personally I just chose to stop playing; the ease of blocked punt/FGs, constant BnR & corner patterns, etc. is frustrating to deal with.

Yeah...I played a guy in the Lobby and he blocked every Punt I tried. Is this cheese? ESPN 2004 had a problem with blocking FG's. Does Madden have a similiar problem?
