It is nothing but a silly gimmick, much like Sega did with their 'First-Person Football' mode and the 'Pro-Gangsta Crap Pad' called 'The Crib'. People will try it, get bored with it, and then continue to play the football game just for the meat and potatoes of it, which is first downs, tackles, touchdowns, injuries, Playoff victories and Super Bowl Championships.

I liked FPF. I didn't see it as a gimmick... I just saw it as an interesting perpsective in which the gameplay could be experienced from. Same gameplay... different angle.

I can understand you personally not liking FPF and that it (as does any First Person view) gives you motion sickness as you've admitted previously. However, those things don't make it a gimmick. It's a completely different gameplay mode. Now, thats not to say VC couldn't have done more with it.

A Career Mode similar to Madden's SSM and upgradable CRIB's would have been great off-the-field additions/tie-ins to FPF. Meanwhile, features such as RTS's ("Road To Sunday" by Sony) position specific controls, Interactive Weekly Prep (one of your noted wishes for NFL2k), and a functional QB evade button would be but a few key gameplay upgrades VC could make to FPF. I think the bottomline is that First Person Football just has FAR too much potential to be considered a "silly gimmick".
