Re: For those with "the hookup"

NCAA 06 will hold me over until Aug 9. I was one of those maniacs who went looking for NCAA before July 12, found it the Friday before but I refuse to do this again!!!!!!!

Furthermore if Gamestop is getting thiers on one day, EB and EBX will have it to on that day. As far as the 2nd rate game sellers (Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc) who knows when they will get it.
Managed an EB (Randall Mall) for 3 years...Publishers will sometimes stagger the shipping on major titles like Madden.

Don't get me wrong fellas, I'm not saying it will be for sale, but if they do ship next week, every Gamestop manager in the country will be playing it for a week (via the perfectly legit employee loan-out policy), and then re-shrink wrap it on release day if the DM pops up.

So THAT'S how it works, that's how we receive bogus copies?

A pre-played game before its new release...

Lol..yep. All game retailers have a shrink wrap machine in the back for re-packaging like-new returns (if somone brings it back for a refund, it has to be in flawless condition so it can be re-sold as new...a dirty gamestore secret heh, heh)

Bogus copies are manufacturing errors, though...playing a game doesn't destroy the disk. If you want to make sure your purchase has never been touched by human hands, always look at the type of plastic that is on the game. Returned copies will have a slightly different type of plastic. The normal manufacturing process folds and glues the game's wrapping at the bottom and its a more thin, glossy type of plastic. Re-wrapped games have a thicker, less shiny plastic with a heat-sealed seam along the edges, and usually has wrinkles on the corners.

Keep in mind, I've been out of the games business for about 4 years now, so this may all be obsolete by now...

Re: For those with "the hookup"

Nope its still the same, if you ever look at a game. A new out of the factory game has folded edges on the top and bottom. If you get one that doesn't have these folds then it is a re-packaged product. You do have the right to ask for another one, even though it does annoy us. But nope in 4 years it hasn't changed. All the shrink wrap machines are the same, they do it at places like Best Buy and Circuit City for movies and cd's as well. The wrapping on the new and re-packed ones feel really different...

Re: For those with "the hookup"

Well, EA's shipping the game early, but the actual release date is the 8th?

This could get ugly. My anniversary is the 6th. Uh oh...
