What do you guys mean by "looking off" the receiver? Does this mean don't actually light up the guy you're going to ASAP in order to fool the defense?

i was playing as the chargers against my buddy the pats, 99% of the time i was in dime cover 2. he thought we would just bomB me, i had 6 ints against Brady, it's all about reading the D

If you do that then the computer will throw it for you as well. Just don't touch anything and let the cpu control the drop back than manually pass the ball.

I don't always look off the defense...especially in PvP. Sometimes I'll follow the receiver all the way. This way, the defense cannot "cheat" by anticipating a look-off. Against the CPU, the more you look at the receiver from the start, the more they will jump the route. At THAT point, look-offs are even more effective.

Run routes where two receivers are in the cone and throw to the "other" one (the one you are not locked on). The CPU cheats not to the cone area, but to the receiver you are locked on so the other receiver can usually make the reception. Since you can use the precision pass for this receiver, it is an effective pass strategy. Obviously, for Manning, Favre, and Brady, this is a no-brainer...for Kerry Collins, I need every advantage I can get!

Finally, on DRAW plays, at the snap, I move the right stick to one side so it looks more like a pass. I've read people complaining about the cone is always straight ahead and gives away the draw, but you can move it when you snap (and may even pull a DB in the process).
