Holy crap... throwing to the R1 reciever with the vision cone on is the hardest thing I've ever had to do in a game.

If you're trying to do that with 1 finger, it probably is.

Index = R1
Middle = R2

At least that's how I do it. Its not any more difficult than throwing to any other reciever that way.

BTW, I'm using the normal PS2 controller.....no Madcatz or anything.

That is tough for me as well because my hand has formed to the controller with only one finger on top. I usually check out the routes before the play and decide if I'm going to throw to the R1 guy before the play. If he has a route where I might throw it to him I'll start off looking at him, but if he doesn't I don't pay much attention to him, unless he is wide open.

Well I'm really used to just using my index finer on top but when the R1 reciver is needed i need to have both my index and middle finger on top which is just awkward. I guess I'll get used to it.

I use the right analog stick to move the cone around so its pretty easy for me.

Are you guys serious?? The controller was designed to have both your middle and index finger up there, how do you think games like NBA Street work... Haha, come up dudes, get all four fingers up there!

That's probably why I have no trouble with it. I put my middle finger on bottom, index finger on top. It's pretty natural fit, unless you got gorilla fingers LOL..
