Assigning recievers to block?

In previous versions of Madden you were able to assign your TE, HB and FB to block instead of running their routes.

Did EA remove this function or what happened?

I don't understand the logic in removing something that could counter all the nano blitzes that people are already developing at the momen for 2006.

Re: Assigning recievers to block?

You can adjust the blocking by clicking on Y for xbox, I assume Triangle for PS2 and then select your player and click either the white or black button for them to change their assignment to block in either direction. Not sure what to click on for PS2 but this information is easily found in the instruction manual, unless of course you dont have that either. Its located under the Blocking part for the game controls.

In this years version I don't think you can change WR or TE to block. So far I've only been able to Hot Route HB/FB to block.

Not sure, in the manual it includes TE's also but to this point I havent actually tried it since Im only messing around in practice mode while waiting for some competent rosters from EA.

You can assign your TE, RB's and FB's to blocking assignments.. done on the xbox as such:

Y button - hot route

corresponding receiver button.. followed by

L trigger or R trigger, left and right respectively

You are correct, and you can bring your WR's in motion and as they approach the Tackle, hike the ball..and they will block at the line.

Yep, RB, FB and TE can be assigned to block..I dont ever remember being able to assign a receiver to block, other then moving him to the line and hiking the ball.
