Re: done with the passing cone?

I originally did 2 franchise fantasy drafts, picking Vick both times.

Then I realized I was never scrambling with him and his vision was smaller then the gap in Strahans front teeth and was getting sacked and throwing lots of picks.

I did a 3rd fantasy draft and picked Warner, who now has a 101qb rating after 3 games.

The key to using Vick effectively in Madden 06 is to do what the Falcons do in real life, i.e. keep it simple. Run the ball, use lots of play-action, and limit yourself to a primary and secondary receiver at most. If they aren't open, run.

I like the fact that some people think everyone should be completely satisfied with any game and not voice their dislike or non-use of a feature for whatever reason. Isn't that awesome? LOL.

I am continuing to use it with not much success. I have 14 tds and 18 ints. 70 sacks against and a 48% completion with Aaron Rogers. But...except for the completion % and sacks my numbers are about right.

I use the R twice method. I will lock on a guy before the snap if i see a blitz or maybe man to man. If i need a big play i will always have the cone set to a different receiver than i want to throw to. i will then use the R 2 times method. I have two problems with the cone. 1). my main problem is that i continually hold the R trigger down and end up pump faking. 2). the white and black buttons are a joke. too small and i can never remember which one.

all in all i need more practice. but i like the idea. i don't want to have 28 TDs with rogers.

Lets be honest here.......
the real problem is: people who were dominating in Madden right out of the box no longer can; and they don't like it.

That's not true... some folks just aren't good button pressers, and dislike the extra buttons being thrown in this year.

Uhhh
just because a feature is difficult doesn't mean that it is "SIM". Playing without it on doesn't constitute a cheeser.
If you want to get technical with it, I'm sure a real qb doesn't have problems swiveling his eyes to lock onto a WR.
I understand that it's suppose to be simulating awareness, quickness, etc. But as it is now, it's more of a twitch skill than a "read the defense" skill. It's clunkiness rewards guys who play the newest mortal kombat than playing a football game.

Exactly... a normal progression I can get to 3 recievers if I have time to where I can give them a look to see if they are open. In the split seconds you need to hit most Madden routes correctly, I can't hit the right trigger, then hit square, then hit square again. By the time I do all that, the guy isn't open anymore. And if you're only using it for a primary reciever it's kind of pointless.

I gave it the old college try. Two full nights of frustration playing with my friend. We start a SS together, me QB'ing, him RB'ing and playin some D. As soon as I said "To hell with the flashlight", we started having good games.

Good idea, but poorly implemented and clunky. If only I still had the video game hands I had when I was 15. Unfortunately I'm 27, and they aren't that quick anymore.
