Disc Problems

After I have been playing the game for a little while I always get an error that pops up on my screen that says:

There's a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged.

Does anyone know if this is my xbox going bad or do I have a bad Madden disc?

Bergie, I'm having the same issues and I don't think it is the disk. I went and rented Madden to see and get the same errors. If I have been reading right, most of the older XBOXs have Thompson DVD drives which might be where the problem is. I bought my XBOX on release day so I think this may be it. A few other games are having problems like this, and others are running fine. Somebody here said that this happens with EA games on older XBOX. Ghost Recon 2 is also doing it.

You can read up a bit on it here. I guess I'm going to try and use a DVD cleaner and see if that helps. Might just have to live with it until the 360 gets here. Not going to go buy another XBOX at this point.

Re: Disc Problems

Thanks to both of you for your help. I have a Samsung drive but maybe it is dying fast or something. This sucks because I doubt I will be able to get a 360 right away but I am going to try cleaning my drive to see if that helps.

That happens to me sometimes but only with EA Games when I'm playing XBox, happens every once in a while, not lately though, It's prob just EA's games.

Re: Disc Problems

I have had the same problem but I also have the samsung disc drive. What I did was take a table fan and put it in back of my entertainment center. I forced the air to the back of my x box and had no further troubles. I checked my fan on the xbox and it was working good so I think it just needed a cool air boost. Hope this helps you because it is frustrating playing a game then dirty disc comes up and you lose the game.

I'm now getting the same problem. Hoping it's not the system.

Re: Disc Problems

That list is outdated there are now 6 known models of Xbox DVD drives, the two holes could mean also a Tommy now too.
