IR does not create an additional roster spot?

Can anyone tell me if Im doing something wrong when placing guys on IR because I had 5 players out for the season and needed to fill up my roster and I had no choice but to release players becuase placing a guy on IR did nothing to allow me to sign someone. In the NFL if a player is placed on IR you are allowed to use his roster slot am I missing something here or what?

EA doesnt know too much about rules from the NFL. Your right though, its SUPPOSE to give you an extra roster spot, but instead what it does is just give a man on teh IR

so it would be something like this..

65 players
1 Injured Reserve

So does this mean there is no point of putting injured players on the IR in this game?

From a roster editor's viewpoint, I wish it would free up a spot. Would make roster editing for accuracy so much easier.

If I'm not mistaken, you don't have to pay a player's salary for the year if they are on the IR. That is one reason to do it; if you are in the hole in owner mode.
