EA to back Blue Ray. Does this mean anything?

There is an article on gamspot that talks about Microsoft and Intel backing HD-DVD.

Link: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/09...s_6134510.html

Near the end of the article it shows the companies backing Blue Ray.

"Besides Sony, Dell, and HP, Blu-ray allies include Apple Computer, Electronic Arts, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sun Microsystems, Twentieth Century Fox, Vivendi Universal, and Walt Disney."

Interesting to see that EA is backing Blue Ray.

Does these mean we can expect stripped down 360 versions of the upcoming next gen maddens starting with Madden 07 for the 360? Does these mean EA will be backing the Blue Ray PS3 more than the 360? I'm still wondering which next gen system will be the building blocks for the Madden games and which system will just be ported to it.

Game Makers will always make their games to fit the specifications of their games for the lowest common processing requirements. What does that mean? It means to make money they will make the game at the floor rather then the ceiling so it can be easily ported to other mediums MEANING it really doesnt matter which next gen system you have.

And even beyond that, since EA has supported Sony for years, you'd think they would support BR. For them not to would mean to possibly lose whatever dominant market share they have on the PS2->PS3, and that ain't smart.

interesting indeed. I've decided on PS3 since it will be the only next gen game system that will have HD-DVD capability (high def movies-double bang for my buck).
