In with the old, out with the new??

I am about to get a big screen TV with HDTV and I got two question for yall:

1) I have heard good and bad about Madden 360. I have been playing Madden 06 on regular XBOX for months now, but without HDTV. Obviously I understand with or without HDTV 360 will have better graphics, but will I see a great difference in graphics with an HDTV on the regular xbox for Madden 06? In other words is Madden 360 worth buying the system now?

2) What the best type of tv? consider I mainly only play Madden, and maybe change it up and find another game but my tv will be used for mainly two thing, Madden on any system and just watching NFL on sunday.

Thanks for the help yall and I no its all about opinion but just wanna no what yall think.

Re: In with the old, out with the new??

There are so many differing opinions on both HDTVs and Madden 360.

Here are mine: I use a widescreen LCD HDTV and I love it. I have both the TV and 360 set at 720p and it looks gorgeous.

Madden on the 360, on the other hand is a big disappointment to me and not worth the money. I would honestly prefer to play the Xbox(1) NCAA or Madden. Neither are playable (yet) on the 360 unfortunately.

These are my opinions. YMMV though.

Like Murph said, there a so many different opinions. For me, Madden 360 was WELL worth the new investment. It's the best looking AND playing football game I've ever laid my hands on. I guess I'd recommend to you to just go ahead and get the 360 and then rent Madden to see if you like it. If not, there are plenty of other great games on the 360 to validate your purchase

I love my HDTV, I've had it for 2 1/2 years. My XBOX looked very nice when I had it hooked up via component cables. Madden 06 (XBOX) looks much better when running on a HDTV via component. Then I bought the XBOX 360 and that looks amazing with any games I run on the system. I was running the games in 720p and then decided to go 1080i which makes a world of difference imo.

It all depends if Madden 360 is worth the money or not. The 360 version looks very nice and plays a good game of football, but it's very stripped down in the features department. I am enjoying Madden a lot even though there are a few things missing. I think that this is the best football game that I've played since NFL2K5. If EA can add a similar presentation like 2K5 next year, Madden is going to be a for sure system seller.

If you enjoyed the original XBOX, than the 360 is a no brainer.

Which features do you enjoy from Madden06 (XBOX)?

This surprises me, since the 360 is designed with 720p as the reference resolution and it renders everything internally at 720p, regardless of what you have your HDTV set at. When you set your HDTV to 1080i, all the 360 is doing is 'scaling' the video, so you really shouldn't notice much of a difference, IMHO.

What's the technical difference between 720p and 1080i?

720p is 720 lines progressively output.

1080i is 1080 lines interlaced onto the screen.

Here's a decent article about progressive vs. interlaced:

Here's another (scroll to the bottom for a visual of both):
