Re: I Was Wrong About Madden 360!

If it's any consolation mr_president I feel where you are coming from. The issues that plagued Madden all these years and the half-done feel of this title ended up killing this for me. I tried to have "fun" with it but, alas, it along with Fifa went to EB for a trade in on PGR3. A much better game I might add. I feel that this game has promise, but it's the same old Madden mantra, "maybe next year....."

Then you have others like myself and almost everyone that visits this site. We want a chess match, we want to feel like we are actually coaching or playing a real professional sport. Unfortunately, the whole "sports thing" didn't pan out for us and we became accountants, doctors, lawyers, financial advisors, programmers, etc. But those competitive juices still run through our veins and may never leave.

Until we find a company that is willing to make less profits in order to make a great game for the sim crowd, we will always have this problem. Until then, we have to just enjoy what we have. Do you really think the Madden faithful really think the Madden game is a simulation of football? I doubt it. They just take it for what it is worth and have fun with it.

Here is what I do and hopefully it can work for you too. Play one game every other day or so and DON'T LOOK FOR GLITCHES. Just play and have fun!

All that being said, I wish the Madden team and the 2K would get together and create two football games. One for casual gamer and one for the sim player. I swear, I would pay $100 each year for a true sim!
I agree with much of what you're saying, but even the "sim" fans are split on what level of simulation they want. It's impossible to please everybody.

Finding "a company that is willing to make less profits in order to make a great game for the sim crowd." That's not going to happen. These companies are in business solely to make a profit. The development team cares about all gamers, but the executives are only interested in revenues. It may suck at the gaming level, but it will never change.

A Madden/2k hybrid would be a wonderful thing. I doubt even think they'd need to produce two games, just one that is completely customizable. I guess we can always dream.

I dont think EA would make less money if they make Madden a sim. Its the only game in town. They could make an arcade mode and a sim mode something similiar in the NBA2k series. It is easy for gamers to make a sim into arcade than an arcade game into a sim.

i never go off of other reviews for any game that i buy(especially sports), if i did, i would never have purchased inside drive, and the nfl fever series... not to mention i haven't read any reviews that mentioned the things that i have stated, they all talk aboput lack of features, and not once did i mention anything about a missing feature.the only feature that the reviewers did not mention, the main one that is missing is football basics(tackling, running, blocking, catching).all my complaints deal with gameplay issues, unless you count football basics as a feature. believe me i have the game, as a matter of fact, it's my second copy because my son likes it so i had to buy it again, the first one was returned.

if this game is built from the ground up, then why are the same problems that plagued the previous maddens still here?? why not make sure the gameplay is as tight as a drum above and before anything else??
i am a sports fan(football, hoops, boxing, baseball in that order), and gaming is one of my hobbies and your right, i never will be satisfied while we(gamers)are fed garbage and are being told that it's prime rib, and with no other football game in town we are screwed. that is a little unsetteling to me when the only offering of one of my favorite sports is a $60 demo. i am not here to piss anyone off, that's not my thing, i simply stated my gameplay experience like everyone else has,but because i was more critical and pointed out flaws and was not willing to accept it i am trying to piss people off?? well i guess the next thing your gonna tell me is that i am out of the club...

what doesn't make sense is you accuse me of tryin' to piss people off when all i did was state what the game does. if that pisses you off, then why doesn't the game piss you off for doing the things that i stated???
I agree with you 100% man, unfortunately if you express your views as anything other than positive you will get a negative response...Not only on this site but almost evry sports -gaming site that is pro-madden...Sometimes love is blind and people who stand by the game will overlook the SAME flaws every year..and will rationalize it by saying it will be in next years Madden..I too was a big supporter of Madden..matter of fact every one since the genesis days but for the last 3 years I just have that feeling that I am being ripped off...When I bought the 360 version I KNEW I was ripped off...so I myself will stp making excuses for Madden..I hear ya though

Re: I Was Wrong About Madden 360!

I was right about Madden 360 and it sucks. It has little hope to become the game I expected it to be with this console generation.

With that said the more "NFL football realistic" you make the game the harder it becomes to capture fans on the sidelines.

But you know what, EA already has a game for people looking just to have fun it's called NFL Street.

EA needs to take 1 step back turn Madden into a realistic football game, (physics and A.I.) and grow a new generation of players. Its in serious jepodary of losing the people who supported them the most.

Re: I Was Wrong About Madden 360!

Is it really in any jeopardy? They OWN the market on NFL games. I think they'll be fine. As a very very big NFL2K fan it saddens me, but it's the truth. If we want anything resembling an NFL sim, we'll get Madden because we have no choice.

There is no competition and even though we'll complain, we'll still buy the game, waiting for EA to create the game ultimately know they won't make. Still, we'll buy.

They'd have to spend more money to do that, and it would eat into profits. Great idea, and cheaper too, but the beancounters won't allow a massive overhaul like that until the next system.

The people that support EA the most are casual gamers, not sim fans. The franchise is in no danger of losing its core demographic.
