To decide whether they want to buy a certain product or not.

If consumers don't buy product = product will change, will be reduced in price, or will no longer be sold.

If consumers complain on message boards but still buy product = product will not change.

I'm not buying the product myself (not that anyone cares of course), but understand why someone would. EA's placed themselves in a near no-lose situation. People love football. I hated NFL Fever when it was available, but if it were the only football game available I'd be open to giving it a try. The lack of choice changes the whole dynamic
