I've created a few players where I am the backup. So to answer your question, no, you don't always start.

Re: Official SuperStar mode thread.

I haven't played Madden in a few years, so I haven't played SS mode yet. Do you get to call plays the plays and timeouts and stuff or does the computer handle all that for you and just shows you what play has been called? I think that'd be a fun way to play.

Sorry Vince, if this is messing up the point of your thread

You can call TO but you can't call any of the plays. I haven't played as a QB so I dunno if you can choose them then, but the positions I have played (WR, DL) you had no say at all.

cool, sounds like a fun way to play as an alternative to the franchise mode to keep things fresh. Thanks.

What positions and teams did they put you on the bench?

Re: Official SuperStar mode thread.

It seems that the non-starter thing only happens in current-gen. On the 360 it seems like you start regardless.

I was a DL. I believe it was LE. I was rated an 83 and was drafted by the Bears in the 3rd round. I was the second string.

When it came to gameday, I wasn't in the lineup so I watched the CPU play. I eventually subbed myself in to get some PT.

~ On the PS2 version, if you pause the game, there is an option to turn CPU play on. What that means is that you only control your player and play only only on that side of the ball.

~ So if you were a WR, you would just play as a WR and offense only. If you get taken out of the game, the CPU would play the offense. You also get no control over the defense as well.

Pretty cool if you ask me.
These posts alone make me want to buy madden this year. Thank you, TooTall
