Lack of gang tackling, lack of smooth bouncing off of blockers, so i'd say the difference is still huge.

I can't believe people are complaining about next gen engine.
2 years ago everybody was saying "I'm tired of this engine.... where is the new engine?..." Now the new engine is out..people want the old engine with better graphics.

I have a feeling that next year they will probably use the new technology.(From FIFA 07) It took 2 fifas too get a true next gen experience....

Maybe it'll take 2 Madden's to get a true Next Gen exp.

We will see.... but it's on the right track.

Re: I'm convinced - EA should scrap the next-gen engine.

I said a few weeks ago that in hindsight, I wish EA just "ported" their game and prettied it up. The horsepower of the next gen systems would've allowed the devs to include things like gang-tackling and better player interaction with the current gen engine. At the same time, we would not have lost any of the features that seperated current gen Madden from everything else i.e. Owner Mode, Storyline Central this year Franchise Roles.

You can say that some of the things in current gen are gimmicks, but when all the "gimmicks" and features are put together, you have a VERY deep Franchise experience. One of the reasons why I use the current gen Madden and NCAA for my Franchise and Dynasty fix, and play the 360 Madden for SS Mode and not much else.

Irony anyone?

Personally, I love the next gen engine, it could use some tweaks but it is a lot better then the current gen engine.

Re: I'm convinced - EA should scrap the next-gen engine.

I'm not fond of the 360 engine, but I hated the current gen one. But I haven't owned Madden on current gen since 2003, though I played each.

I think the 360 engine needs to be scrapped and rebuilt... for real this time. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I'm guessing animations need to be shortened to accomodate 3+ player interaction. Mobile blocks need to be implemented. Physics need to be implemented properly. It needs a lot of work, but in no way do I think the current gen engine was better.
