for muggins and everyone else, i've paid very close attention my last few games and maybe i am wrong and notice what you guys noticed, although it seems very infrequent, i see a slight stutter in the menus. However i've only seen it like 3 or 4 times, in about 3 hours tonight of play so maybe others are seeing it alot more .

i just wanted you guys to know that before i said mine was perfect and some said the people who said it was perfect were not paying attention or whatnot and i disagreed so i wanted to admit that maybe was the case and maybe i was wrong and wasn't seeing it. however i can't see 3 or 4 slight stutters in 3 hours being cause for anyones alarm so obviously this must be worse for muggins and others who are trying to fix it.

is it something that gets worse with time? have you guys who have the problem run the game for awhile before it got worse? maybe for me mine will get worse or something, i dunno, but for now it's very much unmentionable at this point.

I think it's just an issue that they should've fixed; i don't see how they could've gotten by playtesting with this.

That said, i played a bunch last night and i'm loving it.

Re: Removed HD and the game smoothed out

For what it's worth

1080i runs at 30fps (actually 540 progressive lines since 1080i is interlaced)
720p runs at 60fps (720 progressive lines)

720p will look better for fast moving objects, ie. Madden.

Just look at the difference in football games on Sundays. Look at a CBS (1080i) telecast and then switch to a Fox (720p) telecast.

Madden is rendered natively in 720p anyways.

Now back to the thread...

After switching my 42" Mitsubishi from 1080i to 480p and noticing a little difference, but not much and then buying a mem card and trying to play without the HDD attached and still no difference, that was the conclusion I came to. Kinda pissed off about this issue.

Would it be better to play in 1080i or 480p for those of us that don't have 720p?

This is only applies when the motion object is either running @ 30 or 60 FPS. Madden runs @ 30FPS. BTW I tried changing my 360 settings to 720p. My HDTV accepts both 720p & 1080i. I then down converted(540p) & upconverted(1080i) & there's was still framerate problems..

That does suck. I thought Madden was 60 fps.
