No offense to anyone who actually realize's it's just a show. I have rephrased my earlier statement.

You show me pro wrestling true believers: I show you the dedicated football fan, the ones who play fantasy football, are on top of personnel moves, who attend every home game religiously.

You show me Budweiser drinkers: I show you a huge craft based industry of fine locally produced microbrews and wine that is growing fast.

You show me Adam Sandler: I show you George Carlin and Bll Cosby.

In this day and age it is so easy to become cynical, I reject the stereotypes and easy alibis.

Genuine NFL football Madden would destroy Comic Book Steroids Madden.

Adam Sandler CAN act, he proved it to me in Punch Drunk Love...In fact, he certainly beat the pants out of any movie roles Carlin or Cosby have ever done (other than concert films)
Ghost Dad ring a bell?

As a sim that you and I would enjoy? Absolutely.

As a product that would sell more than the current versions of Madden? Keep dreaming.

Re: Is it time to retire the Madden franchise?

I disagree with the idea of retiring the Franchise.

I guess the things that piss me off more than anything about Madden, NCAA, and whatever other title you want to add is the refusal to improve upon/eliminate the little things that destroy these games.

Comeback AI-I don't wanna believe it's in there, but it is.

Horrid clock management and playcalling AI by the CPU. Do they throw a pass EVERYTIME they need inches for the first down?

Features/aspects that are overcooked: Jump The Snap-Momentum, HFA. The turnover situation in NCAA (on all platforms) is pathetic.

CPU Cheats on the higher levels: I would think that it would be harder on the higher difficulty levels because the CPU might have better AI. Nope. The computer players just run faster and it's unfair.

These are types of things that, if fixed, would make a more enjoyable game to me. Does it require a major overhaul? I don't think so, but for God's sakes, does anyone test these games!?!?!?!

Re: Is it time to retire the Madden franchise?

EA doesn't need to do anything.

EA could slap a new coverboy for the 08 edition and just update the rosters and it will still easily sell over a million copies.

Until people stop buying Madden, there's no incentive for change.

Heck I feel like it would be a wise thing if EA doesn't release a patch for fatigue this season and just corrects this for next years edition. They could put on the back of the box there is a new fatigue engine in the game.

As much as sim players like you and I hate to hear this, Madden has always been dedicated to its core fan base, which is the casual/arcade gamer. This type of gamer enjoys HoF players being available in franchise mode, a "shotgun" sound for long bombs, etc....
