Has anyone successfully recovered an onside kick and if so, what part of the ball was kicked (left analog) what direction/height (right analog) and how much power?

No, and I haven't successfully started a franchise with the roster update and patch that EA was supposed to release on Sept. 5th.

I recovered the first one I ever tried. I hit the ball in the lower right corner about half to 3/4 power it lobbed, hit an opponent and came back towards my guys. I've tried a couple since but no luck.

well, I'm assuming madden uses the same kicking engine as NCAA, since the icon and mechanism is the same. I haven't tried one in madden, but I'm guessing if the first statement is true, you can just use the method from NCAA.

I have recovered 2 in about 10 trys kick strengh @ about 1/2 and bottom to middle of right side

Hmm, I recovered one, only tried twice. I kicked towards the top-right, at about 2/3 to 3/4 power. I don't think the opponents even touched the ball.
