Player editing?

Why is it that some players "positions" can be edited, while others cannot? For example when you go to the player "info" screen, some of them allow you to change the position they play, while others have that option inop?

If you are refering to current gen....release the player then edit them as a FA and re-sign them. That is what I used to do.

On the PC, you can only edit a player's position (in game) during the offseason, preseason, and week 1 of the regular season. Anything after that and it won't work I don't think.

Also, you have to be at least 1 player over the minimal required for the position your changing from. For example, if you want to move a FS to CB, you need at least 3 FS's to do this, so 2 are left (as 2 is the minimal for FS). That would explain why some players can be changed and others can't.

Yea, I'm curent gen x-box. The problem with the "releasing" route is you incur significant cap penalties by dropping a player with a long-term contract?

It means that their current position, does not have enough players listed at it, to allow him to move. I will usually sign the cheapest free agent i can find in that position, so there are enough players at, say, RE to allow me to change one to a LOLB.
