PC Madden 07 - Can't assign buttons for wired 360 controller?

for some reason, when I choose gamepad in the game, it won't allow me to assign buttons. so basically i'm left totally confused with recievers "1 2 3 4 5" etc, the default options.

Is there any way to adjust the controls to fit my gamepad how I want?

It's pretty limited. I have been using my Xbox 360 controller, and it ends up working out just like playing on a console (controller wise). Completely opened the game up for me.

Isn't working that well for me. For example, hike is the B button, instead of what probably should be A. all the buttons are mixed around strangely.

Might not help that I'm using XBCD, but I doubt it makes a difference.

It does. You need the official MS drivers.

You don't necessarily need Microsoft drivers, but it helps. I have a profile for XBCD and the 360 pad if you want it, that has the default buttons playing like an XBox version. Some of them are a bit sketchy since the PC version automatically maps presnap things to one button as well as a defensive option. If I remember correctly, things like QB vision are on the RT but the receivers are X, Y, B, and LB/RB, making RB throws a bit tough to do. It shows up as "1, 2, 3" instead of "X, Y, B", though...which is why I went back to MS drivers. You can play it fine on the profile I have, which also fixed the axes to work for the R stick in-game...but it's just a bit more confusing than I liked.

Plug it in and they're installed (with Service Pack 2 for XP). If you have XBCD or something already installed, you'll need to uninstall it and delete the controller from the system properties, then reconnect it to get Windows to install the drivers again.

Yeah but I'm using an off brand controller and it doesn't automatically do it. Perhaps the off brand ones don't work?

Try one of these? It's half the price of another xbox 360 controller for the PC. Easy to install and all the buttons match just as if you're were playing Madden on the 360. Works like a charm and only $19.82 at wal-mart.

Now that you mention it, that's definitely it. If you have the off-brand one (I have one too, it's a black one and it does what you're describing), you're screwed I think. You'll need XBCD to work, but you'll probably have to configure a profile for it that makes it work better. The profile that I used was for a MS 360 pad, so the buttons are all different.

It's a very strange thing, you'd think that they'd be uniform or something...

Thank you very much for the response. I have been trying to figure this out for a while. My controller is a Neo Se and I forget the name of the company. Thanks for any extra info you or anyone else can give. I would love to find out a way for this to work on Madden. All I have are wireless 360 controllers and this Neo that I got for free. Thanks

Check that link further up in the thread. 20 bucks for the wireless receiver and all those wireless controllers will work on your PC. Mine is actually arriving today, so I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you know how it works.
