Your Favorite Madden and Why

Mine was 05. It had the perfect balance of defense an offense. It had those split screen replays. Great soundtrack. Great civer. Great extras.

Re: Your Favorite Madden and Why

I think I enjoyed 2000 or 2001 the most. However suction blocking, the 20 yard drop back, the lack of a QB pocket, horrible presentation, and the poor DL/OL interaction has ruined my experiences with this franchise over the past 8 years.

Re: Your Favorite Madden and Why

I liked the first Madden on PS2 (I think it had Eddie George on the cover).

The graphical step-up was phenomenal, especially the cut scenes! That's why it sticks out in my mind. The offense/defense stuff added lately are mostly gimmicks (I mean who REALLY used "Lead Blocker" consistently?), and I also use slider tweaks so out-of-the-box play isn't all that important either...I end up playing the sim style, or what passes as "sim" for me, regardless.

I think 07 for the PS2 is the best version, but I would have to go with 05 as the one I had the most fun with for the same reasons as you.

Re: Your Favorite Madden and Why

Madden 03, PS2. Exploits, blitz glitches because of OL idiocy - but a TON of fun. Fun H2H and online made for all night trash talk sessions. Used to play 6+hrs a day on some weekends; very addictive despite the game's issues. Imo this was the year Madden really established itself because of it's gameplay.

Then they made a complete departure with Madden 04 w/Michael Vick-styled gameplay and jetpacking. Imo Madden has meandered along aimlessly ever since, becoming more hype/marketing event than game. Last year's game wasn't horrible, but no option to turn off the vision cone on the higher difficulties, along with long-stale player interaction and presentation issues made it dead on arrival

Madden 98 on the PC. I couldn't even tell you how the graphics were or blah blah blah, but I played that game and had so much fun getting Dan Marino a Superbowl and also grooming two "fake" players. I can't remember their names now.

Madden 1999 or 2000. Don't remember why but I played the hell out of both games.

2000 had the best intro to a football game ever.
