Madden has an all new engine on next-gen. That's part of the issue with why the first version was so dry and generic actually.

A wise man once said don't believe everything you hear. Getting use to programming on a new console and starting from scratch are two different things

Re: Madden's Fans look bad on Next Gen systems!

Re: the fans issue, I think it's possible to have less than stellar fan models and still have them add to the game. The Show does this nicely in the PS3 version. In that game, there are a very limited number of fan models, but they behave correctly, cheering at big moments, getting dead silent when you're losing big, etc. I think that ambience is what matters here, and if Madden delivers that, then how the fans look is less consequential. While I would agree that having smoother gameplay is the #1 priority, and that many things should be sacrificed, if necessary, to obtain that, I think a ramped up crowd can add a wonderful sense of immersion to a game, so hopefully that's there this year.

And Re: the Sanders picture--I know he's going to be in the other game, and I'm excited about playing with him, but it's also nice to see him in his old Lions uniform.

Nah, anyone can tell from playing Madden on both the engine is not the same. And if EA lied about it I would think we'd have heard proof from the programmers or such by now.

I wouldn't say they aren't talented, but they work with what they are given. This is EA's cash cow, and they want it out the door at the same time each year. EA throws in a few gimmick features to make it different than the previous year. Little things like 3d crowds gets tossed aside for sprites to do a quick fix for the framerate. Yes they could most likely do both, but they don't want to waste time working it out. Another company might, that's how it works.

They could always live up to their slogan and "fix it next year"..

Im not saying they lied, but some aspects of gameplay are indeed the same. Some of the same problems (suction blocking), many on the same glitches, same money plays, same jet packing, a lot of the same animations.. things like that. Yes each year of next-gen these thing are being eliminated (maybe because of much more capable hardware). If anyone in the US can lie and get away with it im sure EA can. Many game have said they have started over but how many truly mean it? In the end the game is making strides from year to year and i hope this continues so we can have a better end result rebuilt or brand new...

just because they started with a new engine doesn't eliminate the possibility of those issues you mentioned. It might just be that the same people were working on it and made it like that. It can still be a new engine, but with many of the same techniques used to make the old one.
