PS3 to be lead development platform for Madden 09?

I saw this on another board http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=84694:

Quote:
I was watching G4 and they have the Big Wig at EA answering questions. He threw a hardball at the EA rep AND tossed in some interesting information!

Apparently, Jack Tretton talked to Geoff K and dropped a wee bit of a bomb! EA will apparently make the PS3 the lead platform for development of Madden '09 to bring up the quality of the game on all systems.

The rep did not deny it but rather said "You know there are some things I really won't talk about in front of a camera but we feel that if there is an opportunity to raise the quality of the game across all platforms and be able to do that by changing the focus of our development platform (para, I dont have exact wording here sorry) then we will look into that."

It makes me wonder if there is hope on the horizon when it comes to some of these multiplatform games? Maybe Sony is quietly stepping up to the plate and focusing on developer support like what they did with Epic? In any case, it was a good bit of news for Madden fans!

Re: PS3 to be lead development platform for Madden 09?

It's the same game, what difference would it make which console is the lead console?

Anyway, sounds like a big rumor started by Sony fans to me.

Because EA has shown they can't make the PS3 version to be on par with the 360 version if the game is being developed on the 360. This is good news for PS3 owners if true as long as both versions are equal.

Again, we've went over this time and time again, 2K's APF ALSO isn't running in 60 FPS. You can blame EA all you want, but it's not their issue if 2K can't get it running at 60 FPS either.

Which is exactly why they should lead develop it on the PS3 to bring it up to par with the 360 version

Isn't your logic a little backwards?

Right now developers are getting more out of the 360, which is demonstrated by the 60 fps vs 30 fps.

By switching the lead development system to the PS3, the final product would be hurt...not helped. For example, if the PS3 was the lead system this year...both games would be 30 fps.

Both systems are completely different, which require completely different programing.

This is false as when designing for both the PS3 and 360 there are two different teams. Coding and architecture is completely different.
