Sony's Phill Harrison on Madden 30fps

Madden on PS3 Only 30 FPS
"[pause] Well, I can only point to our own sports studio [doing a] 1080p, 60 frames-per-second basketball game, but I'm afraid I have no idea. We're providing some tools and technologies from our worldwide studio's core technology groups to 3rd parties now, as well. You may remember something from GDC, we announced this thing called EDGE and that's now widely deployed within the 3rd party community, and that is clearly improving the developer's ability to maximize what the CELL processor does. Hopefully, that will assist folks like EA. It would concern me if the platform was incapable of doing it, but we've proven the platform is capable of doing it, so it's not a PlayStation 3 issue. I'm trying to be polite."

When you say, "I'm trying to be polite" that negates actually being polite.

Basically he said, EA's being lazy and it's not the PS3's fault.

Interesting... although it is not only the folks at EA. 2K as well.

NBA Live is already confirmed to be running at 60fps on the 360, don't know about the PS3.

Well, basketball is far less stressful on computer power than football - more players, collisions, far more advanced AI. I'm sure 60fps is possible, but they didn't do it the 2nd year Madden was on the 360 either, so why would they on a harder to code for platform.

Maybe if PS3 has a better installment base, developers will invest more of their resources on improving games on it. Microsoft knew the significance of having a lead in market share. That's why it was imperative for the 360 to come out a year earlier, probably knowing that there was a design flaw that causes the red rings of death.

He may be right, but what Sony should of said was "We are able to do it with our games and we are working with EA to bring the best experience to our customers".

Saying what he did just makes him sound like Sony doesn't care about 3rd party developers. Good Job Sony!

EA Sony
