That isn't 1.75 million dollars, isn't that 1.75 copies sold? I'm sure they make more than 1 dollar per copy sold..

Most analysts have been predicting a decline in console software sales for a while now, it's an inevitable consequence of transitioning to a new generation of hardware. Here's an article on the subject from last year:

There was no reason to think that NCAA/Madden would be immune to the industry wide decline in overall sales, so I can't see why EA would be surprised or dissapointed. All things considered, the launch of both of these titles went very well.

I'm going off what EA has said publicly. They were disappointed in last years sales and said they were really going to push this year. The company has been losing a lot of money so having another bad year can't be good.

This is pretty much the same breakdown we saw with NCAA this year (360/ps3 up, ps2/xbox way, waaaaay down). If anyone is still under the illusion that the ps2 and xbox are "current gen", this should put that notion to rest.

You do a great jobs with the numbers but Madden being down close to 400,000 is big.

I'm pretty certain it was the top selling game of the year across all platforms (and possibly the top selling game on a couple of the individual platforms as well).

Not looking for a link now, but I'm sure someone can find one.

Electronic Arts has sold over 5 million copies of Madden NFL 07 over 10 game platforms. According to the sports game giant, that makes the new Madden the top-selling game of the year, based on its internal data as well as industry sources. Since its release in August, which saw 2 million copies sell in the first seven days at retail, Madden has been a solid seller through Christmas.
2006 may have been a tough year for EA overall, but Madden did just fine.
