Has the cpu EVER elected to kick the ball?

its boring knowing that they will automatically elect to receive. why couldn't they make this random?

Re: Has the cpu EVER elected to kick the ball?

The only time I ever see them choose to kick is if I win the toss, the wind is blowing directly North or South (you know, with the field), and I choose to defend against the wind (meaning I will be going into wind during 1st and 2nd quarters, wind to my back during 2nd and 4th, even though i've yet to see any actual wind in this game). When I do this they have chose to kick every single time. Now if it's a crosswind and I still choose which endzone to defend instead of kick or receive they go back to choosing receive. I noticed this a few nights ago when I decided to choose which end to defend instead of kicking or receiving, the wind just happened to be going North or South, and to my amazement the CPU chose Kick. Every since then I always choose Defend just to see what the CPU chooses cause i'm not exactly sure how straight North/South the wind needs to be blowing for them to choose Kick, so at least this way I know there is a good chance it will choose to Kick cause i know it's definitely going to choose Receive if it wins the toss. Still not how it should be programmed I guess, but at least it throws a tad bit of randomness into the toss.

I've never seen it either, I have only played a total of 34 games though.

Call me crazy but don't 9 times out of 10 teams elect to receive in Real Life?

I thought there was a crazy NFL rule that if a team selects to kickoff to start the game then they will also have to kick off to start the 2nd half.

Right. That's why in actuality, when a team wins a coin toss and doesn't want to start the game on offense, they defer their choice to the second half. They have the option to basically say, "No...we'll wait until the 2nd half to pick whether we want to kickoff or receive. You guys decide now."

Of course, 100% of the time, this will result in the other team taking the ball first, because why would you voluntarily give the opposition an extra possession?

No, I usually think they elect to defer.
