One of the only guys out there whose word I trust is Pasta Padre over at PastaPadre.com. He says it's real, and it'll be here eventually. I tend to believe that. Here's the last thing he posted on his site about the patch, written back on November 15:

I heard a rumor (actually, straight from an EA support person via Email) that I could start the first season of my Franchise and the Patch would fix it "on the fly" essentially.

The last date rumor I head was November 27.

(I don't really believe either of them)... but they are both rumors.

Is this patch supposed to fix the fumble problem as well or just the franchise stuff?

an easy way to tell when the info is unreliable is that a specific date is given. They are not holding it back to release it on a certain day. It'll be out as soon as it clears certification.

The best sense I get is that we're looking at by the end of the month but it could definitely be sooner or (hopefully not) later. There just is no way to know for sure.

Thats what I figured.... It seemed like the person was simply playing the part of translating Nostradamus (the Patch) into a specific date.
