Idea for new kicking

Best, system would be to do away with all "arrows" for aiming. Have a low behind the ball camera with ZERO aiming tools. Then use a kick option like APF. Hold R stick back till almost at contact of ball and harder to hit up on R stick determines power and contact. Direction R-stick pressed up chooses angle.

This will make XP's still easy since head on with not much power required. Anything past 50 would be hard and strive to make you line up inbetween the hash marks for a less angled kick.

That's a great point. The only way I was ever able to figure it out was to play a game with LBzrule and have him explain it to me. Until that game I was missing everything, even XP.

Why do so many of you like meters & aiming icons?

I like this idea but I'd be happy with an exact implementation of the APF mechanic.

Because most of us are old and as old men we tend to choose things we know and meters and icons are things we know.

I'm not sure, but I don't think they've touched the kicking mechanics this year at all. I asked about this in the Q&A session with Ian, but my question/concern was not addressed. Hopefully, it is something that they look into for next year.

Umm...no, thanks.

I hate the kicking system in APF, it's by far the worst thing about that game. I don't want to see anything even remotely like it in NCAA/Madden.

APF 2K8 did nail the kicking game. After almost a year of playing, 40+ yard field goals were still not a sure thing. hell, you could still miff an XP. I'd love to see that kicking system in Madden '09.

correct! there's no shame in taking the kicking mechanic from 2K and using it at this point.

not too hard, but not too easy. would be great.
