I for one loved the way 2K8 did kicking with the right stick; why not kind of add the snapping to that and make it all one motion with the analog stick.
Push and hold forward on the analog stick to start your pre-snap.
As you hold forward a dashed trajectory line will move from under center to your holder. This trajectory will change from red to yellow to green to yellow to red.
When the trajectory is in the perfect green zone snap your analog stick back and remain holding back.
- Green zone is a perfect snap and has no effect on kick
- Yellow the holder might bobble but kick still gets off - kick could be effected.
- Red and the ball is off the mark and you better dive for the loose ball - no kick chance.
Assuming you got off a green or yellow snap your analog stick should be now held in the back or down position.
This is where is gets like 2K8
You kicking animation starts (no meter). You are holding back on the stick.
To kick you will quickly move your stick from back straight up through the middle possition and forward all in one smooth motion.
You need to time this motion to the kickers animation so that when his foot makes 'contact' with the ball your analog stick is passing the middle position. Think of it as his leg swinging threw on the ball.
- Power is determined by speed and smoothness in which you moved stick from all the way back to all the way forward.
- Accuracy is decided by how well you timed 'contact' with the ball and how straight your motion was.
- In addition a yellow snap could throw off power or accuracy even more.
So from snap to kick you would basically just be moving or holding the analog stick. The motion would go from up to down to up again.
