Re: New lawsuit against EA!!!

The jist I get from reading the article, is that they are focusing more on the pricing of the product given that they raised the price of their product after they won the rights.

What if I bought all the strawberry fields in the world and decided to raise the price of strawberries even though supply and demand where the same. Isnt there a law against that?

Soon it wont be only forums, but youtube, people at stadiums, and other methods to voice there frustration. We need only 2 developers, and let the public make there choice. I hope those guys win and make a change. Even if they dont, it might open some eyes in the NFL and EA about how we feel.
They would not make more money if the license wasn't exclusive. There is a premium associated with an exclusive license. The NFL is as greedy as they come. They would not have made all these exclusive license deals if it didn't pay them more than having multiple licenses for every type of product.

We're still going through this. I mean, really? Really? Still? This argument? This? All of this? Really?

The prices of their games are in line with every other game out there.

I really don't think they have the football market "cornered" in the legal sense either. Anyone who wants to can make a football game, it just can't have NFL, NCAA, or AFL licenses. The fact that consumers refuse to buy non-licensed games is their own problem, not EA's.

I understand that. But isn't the number less important than what EA has decided to go after? I think the problem is that EA has decided to go after the only football licenses that really matter....the NFL, the NCAA, and the AFL. This has pretty much eliminated any comepitition in the licensed football games and made it hard for any football game to compete yearly despite Blitz and APF selling decently.

I don't see any real argument either way.

It will just make them lazy like it did to Tiburon, though I think Tiburon are feeling the heat and that is why they are coming onto the boards and "getting community feedback". Thank you for coming onto the boards, just be ready for critisism, it is well deserved based on the lackluster stuff that has been coming out since the competition disappeared.

Ummm did you miss APF 2k8?

Its an amazing game that sold 250,000 copies.

I agree that there is serious potential for a great football game but unfortunately the hardcore "football fans" (you speak of), only happen to amount to about 250,000 people.

Compare that to a few million and you catch my drift.

A football game needs to be created with easy customization (deepest in any game ever), the ability to import logos via computer, and the ability to have an editor system where you can change whatever you want about the players. If someone created a game where creating the NFL is possible (crossing my fingers praying it is 2k), then you would have a surge of people that would come together and re-create the NFL. Using a feature such as EA Locker or 2k Share is perfectly legal to share the NFL teams and players (as long as it is created by individuals and is at no extra cost).
