Re: Ryan Grant Madden 2008-2009

A few observations with a couple of players and their 40 yard dash times:

Willie Parker
4.23
97 Speed

Reggie Bush
4.33
97 Speed

Darren McFadden
4.33
97 Speed

Adrian Peterson
4.37
96 Speed

LaDainian Tomlinson
4.38
96 Speed

Joseph Addai
4.4
93 Speed

Ryan Grant
4.43
93 Speed

Marshawn Lynch
4.46
93 Speed

To me it looks like they got their ratings correct.

You realize 40 times are irrelevant in a game? Trust me, running in t-shirts and shorts is much different than running with full blown football equipment. Devin Hester ran a 4.45 at the combine yet he's clearly the fastest guy in pads. Jerry Rice ran a 4.71, but kept the same speed in padding.

You realize everything is irrelevant in a game right? Cuz its just a game.

How else are you gonna judge who is faster than the next guy? You cant just watch a play and be like "Yup. He must be faster than this other runningback." The numbers are the only thing they all have in common.

So you'd be willing to make Devin Hester have a 93 SPD? Because according to his 40 time, that's what he would've been according to you.
