they're not styles.

one way is football, the other isn't. you can't dismiss or try to fluff up cheese as "tourney style" gaming. there is no room for this type of play and you cant be bummed out like the OP that nano blitzing is not in the game, and expect to survive around OS.

Unfortuneately a tourney style player will beat a simmer 9 out of 10 times. Hopefully this will change in 09, but I highly doubt it. I don't get down on people who want to play the game their way though. I myself am a simmer, but that doesn't mean I play the game the "right" way. Tourney style players would argue that the right way to play is the winning way, and if you want to "win" in Madden against the best competition you need to learn nanos, rocket cathces, money plays, etc... Not for me, but who am I to tell someone how to play their game.

it depends what game you are playing. it looks like madden 09 has done a good job of penalyzing cheesers (harder to throw on the run, no strafe on offense, icons disappear when running back, etc). However a game like nhl 08 is different because the cheese in that game can be unstoppable, and they only need one shot to score. if you play sim in that game, the goalie is going to stop a lot of your shots. i played a guy ranked 46 in nhl 08 one time, i outshot him 34-11, he won 7-4. 7 goals on 11 shots. its tough to beat that
