Thought of purchasing Madden, but decided to stick with APF2K8

I played the demo of Madden this year, and there were some improvements. Most notably was the grass, which looks amazing, the new player models, which look better, and the commentary, which was refreshing to get in a demo (who usually have no commentary).

Still, after playing the demo, I see no compelling reason to purchase the game, as many of the problems with Madden games of yesteryear still persist. The game play still feels the same, you don't get the feel of throwing on a slant, in/out, or any pattern (passing game needs work). The animations are still not smooth or life like when viewed in progression, and the transitions between them are extremely awkward and appear scripted.

Until Madden addresses the game play, the animations, and the transitions, it's always going to feel more of an arcade game and less of a football game to me even though it's the only NFL game in town, and while I may rent it, and I can see purchasing it.

The demo had commentary? I never got it on the demo...

Anyway, APF doesn't have a franchise mode so it is pretty much worthless to me.

I have a feeling that this thread will be locked...

But I feel your pain of what APF 2K9 could have been with tweeks, full customization and a deep franchise mode etc

But in maddens demo's defense the demo for APF 2k8 didn't have commentary either. Which is one of the strengths of 2K's games.

You do know that the Madden '09 demo didn't have commentary don't you?

I love 2K5 still to this very day but APF2K8 was wack. No franchise and Earl Campbell & Jerry Rice godlike abilities ruined that game something awful.

I am going to do us all a favor and lock this thread now before the inevitable happens. Which is this thread turning into another 2k vs EA thread. Also, I am locking this thread, because well, lets just say I have a feeling.

Locked.
