Re: NCAA VS Madden???

NCAA has a gameplay patch coming out in September so I would wait to buy the game and make your decision after that for NCAA. I heard Madden has better gameplay right out of the box, but it also has a patch coming too..either way they are both fun, but NCAA does have a couple more gameplay issues (pass rush, robo qb...) than Madden but I am die hard college so it makes it hard for me to dive into Madden like I do NCAA...but like GIGGAS said rent em both or wait til the patches come out

Re: NCAA VS Madden???

This is my first year on next gen, so I probably have a different opinion than most. I'm glad you made this topic cause I wanted to comment on it.

I rented Madden today and popped it in after work. I spent some time with the superstar mode, and I really couldn't get into it. I love the legend mode in NCAA. It was a shock to start out playing the high school finals, and it just kept surprising me from there. Even more than that though, I just love the game play more in NCAA's superstar mode. Madden seems a lot darker (graphics wise), and the camera angel for the player is just awkward compared to NCAA.

I then started up a franchise mode to play with my son. Collinsworth's comments are really impressive. As smooth as 2k ever was, and even better with the backtrack (the other announcer is terrible). I also love the rewind. I do the one a game, and I think it's really cool.

Once again after a few games in franchise, I just can't get into the game play having recently played NCAA. I really just like the overall game play better on NCAA. I loved madden on the original xbox, but the jump from that to the next gen systems really has felt odd to me. NCAA's jump from old to next gen has really surpassed madden game play, and somewhat presentation wise.

When it really gets down to it, it just depends on what you care about more. If you like the superstar/legend mode, NCAA wins hands down. If you like franchise mode, once again as far as fun game play mode goes, I think NCAA is awesome. It really is odd how much different the two games are. I was not expecting it.

P.S. It's also odd going from NCAA where you can take pictures and do video's on the fly, to madden where you can't take any pictures, and no video in superstar mode. Also, you can't exit out of highlights like you can NCAA, which is kind of a pain....it really comes down to renting both though. That's what I've done. I haven't purchase either yet, but I think I'm sticking with NCAA, and I'll play 08 on my PC for another year.

Re: NCAA VS Madden???

Ncaa feels more 08 ish on the game play. But it has updated animations.

Madden is harder to play. Running isnt all about sprint to the corner, like ncaa. you will be caught.

With madden when you are tackled you press the highlight stick and you can still break away.

Overall you do not have to iq test. but it will work around your strengths.
Though you can skip it and it will still do what it was intended for.

Re: NCAA VS Madden???

Compared to Madden NCAA is broken. Wide-open NCAA gameplay =

*every defensive lineman falling down at the snap like a Cold War nuke drill...
*CPU defenders escorting the offensive players down the field for big plays instead of tackling them...
*broken punt returns, kick returns and general special team crappiness...
*super accurate (Madden has'em but not as bad) QBs...
*and broken sliders where the HUM and CPU sliders get adjusted at the same time.

Madden makes NCAA look like an even bigger cluster f than I originally thought. How did they let that piece of S&%^ out at release. They must have known and not cared. According to the devs and even certain OS writers NCAA was "well received" and the NCAA guys are whiners.

Anywho after a solid day of playing Madden, it (for the first time in a bazillion years) is the better game. Far from perfect, but definitely a giant step up from NCAA 09 even after just one day. Madden is better on the field.

Re: NCAA VS Madden???

I have had the game since the weekend and my initial reaction is that NCAA is better. That is pro ably because I found a good set is sliders. I am still waiting for a good set of madden sliders, but with the lack of CPU sliders I am hoping for the best.
