Re: Hardcore vs. Advanced

Last night I kept it on the default of Advanced. I am going to change it Hardcore tonight because I don't need replays or the Rewind feature and hopefully it can fix a problem I am having: I am getting terrible lag in the buttons (ps3 version).

I know for fact it isn't my controller since it plays perfectly for every other game, including NCAA Fooball 09. However, in Madden when I select a play I have to press the X button 2-3 times to get the game to actually let me select a play (and this happens on every single play). It's very annoying but I hope by turning off the replays the game won't be busy with using horsepower to show them and will let me select my plays by only having to press the X button once.

That's bizarre, I don't have that problem on my version.

Hopefully I can find a fix for it. I had first noticed this in the demo but didn't think much of it since it was only a demo. It's strange, like I said it is only Madden 09 that this is happening with, all other games I get no button lag what so ever.

Something I did notice was that it seems like it takes approx 2 seconds after highlighting a play before you can select it and maybe that is the problem. I have been playing video football games since 1993 so I am fairly fast moving around the play calling screens since I usually know what play I am going to select as soon as the previous play ends. If I highlight the play and press the X button immediately that is when it takes 2-3 tries. However if I highlight the play and then just sit there and count to 2 and then press the button it seems fine. With NCAA 09 you didn't have to wait, just highlight the play and press X immediately. With Madden this year it seems you have to let the game catch up to you.

I have the 360 version and am using a new controller and console that is less than a month old. The response of the controller at times is pathetic-I don't think it's just a PS3 problem.

No I meant when Collinsworth breatks down a play. Isn't that called EA Backtrack?

If I have zero rewinds will he even chime in with that?

Ohhh, yeah. That's called Backtrack and that'll happen whether you have any Rewinds left or not.

Yep, that is correct.

I play with Advanced but turn button help, icons, and Rewind off. I would go to Hardcore but I like seeing the end zone hot spots.
