Depth Chart ratings differ from player management ratings?

for example Sidney rice after year 1 was a 87 on my depth chart but was a 83 in player management.

is there a reason for this?

if you're playing in franchise mode, the coach has an affect on the players' attributes. different coaches affect different stats. you can see the effect of the coach in the franchise off season menu.
