I play the 360 version. I know the Y bottom is fair catch but I can never get it to work. I been crushed twice by the punt team resulting in a fumble.

If you press B in order to be in control of the player receiving the ball, then press Y, it should work.

It sounds obvious, but sometimes, it may seem that you're controlling the player about to catch the ball during a punt, but you're actually not.
